Shannon N. Herbon is passionate about travel and worldwide culture and spends as much of her free time as possible traveling with her family. By day, she works as a public relations and marketing professional and has more than 18 years of progressive experience managing and implementing public relations and marketing strategies, resulting in millions of dollars of publicity and profit for her clients.
With a variety of experience in communications, public relations, graphic design and marketing, Herbon has had the pleasure of serving such fine institutions as Metropolitan Ministries, a homeless shelter in the Tampa Bay area; the People’s Princess Charitable Foundation, a global tour of the royal gowns once owned by the late Diana, Princess of Wales; S&A Media, a full service public relations and marketing firm based in Tampa, Florida; the Tampa Bay Performing Arts Center, frequently ranked as one of the top 10 performing arts venues in the world; the Museum of Science & Industry, the largest science center in the southeast.
Currently, Herbon is Public Information Officer for the Florida Department of Environmental Protection’s Southwest District, where she acts as the district’s primary spokesperson and represents the Department to both the media and the general public, ensuring a consistent message and exceptional reputation. Additionally, she fills the role of Legislative Affairs liaison, responding and assisting senators and state representatives with any concerns they may have relating to the district’s eight county region.
A graduate of the University of Florida, Herbon is an avid traveler who resides in Wesley Chapel with her husband, two children, dog, Fergus, and cat, Hazel.
